zugunlew > Backpackers camp at Yosemite; moments after arriving, a small black bear (complete with collar) wandered into camp. It was easily, though lazily, scared off.

zugunlew > Half Dome, looming large over the valley and glowing in the sunset. The plan was to climb it the next day, much of it with packs, almost 5000 feet up from the bottom of the valley.

zugunlew > Nevada Falls, the second of the two large falls we climbed up along on the first morning out of Yosemite Valley.

zugunlew > Half Dome, from the bottom of Little Yosemite Valley. If you look really really closely, you can see the line of people ascending the cables on the upper right part of the rock. Our plan was to find a good campsite, drop our packs and relax for a few hours. Then we could climb to the top in the late afternoon to avoid the crowds - a great plan as it turned out.
